Tesla Cybertruck in Kolkata: The Future Pulls Up Beside the City of Joy's Classics

Overview

Few Indian cities wear their history as openly as Kolkata. Colonial-era mansions line Alipore's avenues, trams still rattle through parts of the city, and the annual vintage car rally draws crowds who come to admire machines older than their grandparents. It is a city that respects the past, and that is precisely why the Tesla Cybertruck makes such a startling impression here. Parked on Park Street or rolling past Victoria Memorial, it looks like a dispatch from a distant future.

The truck available through Big Boy Toyz is the Cyberbeast, the flagship of the Cybertruck family. Its three electric motors deliver 845 hp (630 kW), enough to reach 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, and its EPA-rated range is about 515 km. The skin is an Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel exoskeleton, finished with Tesla Armor Glass. The design was unveiled in 2019, and US customers received the first trucks in November 2023.

Tesla began selling in India in July 2025 with the Model Y, and the Cybertruck is absent from Tesla India's range. BBT's Cyberbeast carries a price of ₹3.99 crore and is sold imported and unregistered, so the buyer registers it in their own name, with BBT able to advise on the West Bengal process.

Big Boy Toyz does not run a showroom in the city. Kolkata buyers can contact BBT directly to discuss the truck, review its documentation and arrange a viewing. For an owner in Salt Lake, Ballygunge or New Town, the Cybertruck offers silent, effortless driving through some of India's most congested traffic, air suspension for the monsoon, and enough range and space for a coastal weekend at Digha or Mandarmani.

Model Features

Behind the Cybertruck's unusual face lies a set of features that would make any engineer pause. This is what defines the Cyberbeast that Kolkata buyers can access through BBT.

  • Power from three motors: a front motor paired with twin rear motors, for 845 hp (630 kW) in total.
  • Acceleration: 60 mph arrives in 2.6 seconds, and top speed is about 209 km/h.
  • Range and battery: roughly 515 km on the EPA cycle from a pack of about 123 kWh.
  • Exoskeleton construction: unpainted Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel that carries structural load as well as forming the skin.
  • Armor Glass: toughened glazing intended to resist stones and impacts.
  • Steer-by-wire: the wheel connects to the front tyres electronically, with roughly 340 degrees from lock to lock.
  • Four-wheel steering: the rear wheels turn by up to 10 degrees to tighten the turning circle.
  • Adjustable air suspension: ground clearance rises to about 443 mm at its highest setting.
  • 800V and 48V systems: a high-voltage platform built from two 400V halves, with a 48V low-voltage network for the cabin electronics.
  • Charging: up to 325 kW DC on Tesla's V4 chargers in the US, and up to 11.5 kW AC.
  • Powershare: outlets supplying up to 9.6 kW, plus 11.5 kW vehicle-to-home support in its home market.
  • Load-carrying: a lockable 6 by 4 foot vault bed of about 67 cubic feet, a 7 cubic foot frunk, roughly 1,134 kg of payload and an 11,000 lb (about 4,990 kg) tow rating.

Taken together, it is a package that no other vehicle in Kolkata, classic or modern, can match.

Variants

Tesla's Cybertruck range has evolved steadily since the first trucks were handed over. In the US, three versions are currently listed:

  • Dual Motor AWD: 600 hp, 4.1 seconds to 60 mph, about 523 km of range, coil springs with adaptive damping and a 7,500 lb tow limit.
  • Premium AWD: 600 hp, adaptive air suspension, the 9.4-inch rear display, 15-speaker audio and an 11,000 lb tow limit.
  • Cyberbeast: 845 hp from three motors, 2.6 seconds to 60 mph, air suspension and about 515 km of range.

Earlier, the Foundation Series offered special badging and bundled features until January 2025, a Long Range RWD version was on sale from April to September 2025, and Tesla scrapped its planned range extender in 2025. For a buyer who wants the definitive Cybertruck, the Cyberbeast is the one.

Colours

Every Cybertruck shares the same factory finish: brushed stainless steel with no paint whatsoever. For anyone who has watched paintwork suffer through a Kolkata monsoon, that has its appeal. Colour, if wanted, comes from paint protection film, and Tesla's own options include:

  • Satin Clear: protects the bare steel without hiding it.
  • Satin Stealth Black: a brooding finish that looks dramatic under the lights of Camac Street.
  • Satin Abyss Blue: deep and refined.
  • Forest Green: an earthy shade suited to trips toward the Sundarbans fringe or the Dooars.
  • Satin Rose Gold: for the owner who wants to outshine even the Durga Puja pandals.

In Kolkata's humid climate, a clear film is a practical first step, keeping water spots and grime from settling on the steel.

Fuel Efficiency and Mileage

With no combustion engine, the Cybertruck asks Kolkata owners to think about range and charging instead of mileage. The Cyberbeast's EPA range is about 515 km, and real-world figures will depend on how and where you drive. Kolkata's slow, dense traffic, on Chowringhee, AJC Bose Road or the EM Bypass at rush hour, is actually efficient territory for an EV, because regenerative braking recovers energy every time you slow down. The humid summer months mean constant air-conditioning, which takes a share of the battery, and fast runs down the highway toward Digha will use more than city driving.

  • Home AC charging: the truck takes up to 11.5 kW. For an owner in an Alipore bungalow, a Salt Lake house or a New Town villa, a properly installed home wallbox will supply the vast majority of the truck's energy.
  • DC fast charging: on Tesla's V4 equipment in the US, the 800V system accepts up to 325 kW and adds around 215 km in about 15 minutes. The truck has the North American (NACS) socket, and India's public fast chargers use another connector, so do not count on public charging.

BBT's after-sales team can guide you through setting up home charging. Mount the wallbox and wiring above the level that monsoon water reaches in your area.

Design and Comfort

Nothing about the Cybertruck's shape is accidental, and nothing is softened. Flat stainless steel panels fold at sharp edges, the roof climbs to a single peak and slopes straight to the tail, and light bars stretch from one side to the other at both ends. Next to Kolkata's Art Deco facades and Victorian mansions, it is a study in contrast that photographers will not be able to resist.

Its size demands thought. The Cyberbeast measures around 5,683 mm in length, 2,032 mm in width and 1,796 mm in height, rides on a 3,635 mm wheelbase and weighs about 3,130 kg. Salt Lake's planned sectors, New Town's broad avenues and the EM Bypass accommodate it easily. North Kolkata's lanes around Shyambazar and Burrabazar's crowded streets are another matter entirely. Up to 10 degrees of rear-wheel steering helps a great deal, cutting the turning circle so that tight corners and parking become far more manageable.

The interior is light, uncluttered and roomy. A wide glass roof opens up the cabin, there is space for five adults, and the flat rear floor means the middle seat is genuinely usable. The 6 by 4 foot vault bed locks under a powered tonneau, the front trunk holds soft bags, and there is a concealed compartment under the rear seat.

For Kolkata, the adaptive air suspension may be the most valuable comfort feature. The monsoon routinely leaves roads waterlogged, and raising the body to about 443 mm of ground clearance helps on flooded stretches. Even so, never drive through water of unknown depth. The rest of the year, the suspension simply irons out the city's patched roads and tram tracks.

Performance & Engine

The Cyberbeast places one motor on the front axle and two on the rear. Combined, they produce 845 hp (630 kW), sending this three-tonne truck from rest to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and on to roughly 209 km/h. The power arrives in total silence and without a single gearshift, so the sensation is less like a car accelerating and more like the scenery being pulled toward you.

Kolkata's traffic rarely allows full use of that, but the response transforms everyday driving. Gaps on the Vidyasagar Setu, the climb onto the Maa Flyover, or a clean overtake on the Kona Expressway are all handled with minimal effort. On the drive to Mandarmani, along the highway through Kolaghat, the instant power makes overtaking slow trucks on two-lane stretches calm and safe.

Steer-by-wire removes the mechanical steering column altogether. The system reads driver input and turns the front wheels electronically, with a variable ratio that needs only about 340 degrees from lock to lock. Add up to 10 degrees of rear-wheel steering, and the truck becomes far easier to thread through tight streets than its size implies. Most drivers find it natural after a short familiarisation drive.

The adaptive air suspension offers separate settings for highway cruising, city driving and rough surfaces, and the Cyberbeast can tow up to 11,000 lb (around 4,990 kg). A boat for the Ganga, equipment for a farmhouse in Rajarhat or a trailer for an outdoor event is well within its capability.

Interior & Technology

Tesla's approach to the cabin is simple: put a large screen at the centre and let software do the rest. The Cybertruck's 18.5-inch touchscreen handles climate, media, drive modes, ride height and the tonneau. Rear passengers have a 9.4-inch display, and the 15-speaker sound system is strong enough for a long drive to the coast.

  • Large glass roof: makes the cabin feel open; a sunshade helps in the hot, humid months.
  • 48-volt electrical design: trims wiring and weight compared with traditional 12-volt systems.
  • Powershare: 120V and 240V outlets in the cabin and bed, useful for a Puja-season event or a beach picnic at Mandarmani.
  • Over-the-air ready: the truck is designed to take software updates remotely, though connectivity and feature availability on an imported unit in India should be confirmed at inspection.

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is not available in India. On Kolkata's roads, with their hand-pulled rickshaws, trams and unpredictable pedestrians, the Cybertruck is very much a vehicle you drive yourself.

Safety Features

In the US, the Cybertruck holds a five-star overall NHTSA rating for the 2024 and 2025 model years. The stainless steel exoskeleton is central to its strength, and Tesla's Armor Glass is built to resist chips and cracks better than standard glass.

  • Automatic Emergency Braking: designed to step in when a collision is imminent, valuable amid Kolkata's dense traffic.
  • Forward Collision Warning: gives the driver an early alert.
  • Lane departure avoidance: useful on highway runs toward Digha or Durgapur.
  • Blind spot monitoring via cameras: essential on a truck more than 2 metres wide.
  • 360-degree camera coverage: helps in narrow lanes and tight building compounds.
  • Front, side and curtain airbags for both rows.

A number of US recalls have applied to the Cybertruck, including fixes for the accelerator pedal, a trim panel, the light bar and wheel lug nuts. BBT checks which recalls are relevant and confirms the truck's software status before it is sold.

Why Buying Used Is Smart

Bringing a Cybertruck to Kolkata on your own means arranging an overseas purchase, shipping, heavy customs duty, homologation and registration, a sequence that can drag on for months with no guarantee of a smooth outcome. Reported prices for Cybertrucks imported into India sit at around ₹5 crore.

Big Boy Toyz takes the uncertainty out of it. The Cyberbeast has already arrived in India, been through a multi-point inspection, and had its import and ownership paperwork verified. Kolkata buyers can review the actual truck and its records, check battery and software status, and then move straight to finance and registration.

Price Range in India

ModelPrice (₹)Notes for Kolkata Buyers
Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast₹3.99 croreImported and unregistered, available through Big Boy Toyz. The buyer registers it in their own name; charges vary by state.

The price is identical across all the cities BBT serves. Road tax and registration fees depend on where the truck is registered, so contact BBT for guidance on a West Bengal registration and to confirm availability.

Ownership Cost

Owning a Cybertruck in Kolkata turns the running-cost equation of a large luxury vehicle on its head. Energy and routine maintenance come cheap, while insurance and tyres call for proper planning.

  • Charging: topping up the battery from empty to full at home typically costs ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 on standard household tariffs. A week of driving between Ballygunge and Sector V may need well under one full charge.
  • Maintenance: there is no oil to change, no spark plugs and no exhaust. Expect to spend on tyres, brakes, suspension parts and cabin filters. Specialist EV and import workshops take on the servicing, and BBT's after-sales team can point you toward them.
  • Insurance: plan for approximately ₹7 lakh to ₹10 lakh a year for comprehensive cover. Ask your insurer specifically about flood and water-ingress protection.
  • Tyres: the big all-terrain tyres are priced at roughly ₹40,000 to ₹70,000 apiece. Potholes and tram-track edges make regular checks sensible.
  • Body care: a clear or coloured PPF wrap is recommended to keep the stainless surface easy to clean in humid conditions.
  • Home charger: allow for a wallbox installation and any electrical upgrades, and keep the equipment above flood level.

All told, the Cybertruck is inexpensive to run on a daily basis for a vehicle of its size and performance. The meaningful costs for a Kolkata owner are insurance, tyres and the up-front work of establishing home charging and a specialist servicing relationship.

A garage or covered parking bay is particularly valuable in Kolkata. It shields the cabin from the summer sun, keeps the steel cleaner through the monsoon, and gives you a safe, dry spot for the charging point.

Competitors

Kolkata buyers drawn to the Cybertruck often consider a few other statement vehicles before deciding.

  • GMC Hummer EV: a massive electric truck with around 830 hp and the CrabWalk diagonal-driving trick.
  • Range Rover Vogue: the classic choice of Kolkata's old money, refined and understated.
  • Mercedes-AMG G63: the luxury off-road icon with a V8 soundtrack.
  • Hummer H2: the petrol-powered American giant for buyers who love big, brash trucks.
  • Rivian R1T and Chevrolet Silverado EV: electric pickups available in India only as private imports.
  • Ford F-150 Raptor and RAM TRX: thirsty petrol performance pickups with devoted collector followings.

None of them brings together a stainless steel exoskeleton, steer-by-wire and Cyberbeast acceleration the way the Cybertruck does.

The Brand Experience

Tesla's achievement was to make electric cars something people wanted rather than tolerated. The Roadster of 2008 showed EVs could be thrilling, the Model S added luxury and long range, and the Model 3 and Model Y brought electric motoring to the mass market. Remote software updates and a stripped-back, screen-first cabin became defining Tesla traits.

Official Tesla sales in India started in July 2025 with the Model Y. The Cybertruck is not on that list, so seeing a Cyberbeast on Kolkata's roads is a genuinely rare event.

Notable Brand Lineup

Worldwide, Tesla sells several models across different segments, and the Model Y was its first official offering in India.

  • Model 3: the compact sedan behind Tesla's mass-market breakthrough.
  • Model S: the luxury sedan that started it all.
  • Model Y: the crossover SUV, Tesla India's launch model.
  • Model X: the big SUV with its falcon-wing rear doors.
  • Cybertruck: the stainless steel pickup, which comes to India only via import.
  • Tesla Semi: a heavy electric truck for commercial haulage.

Tesla's wider business also covers home batteries, solar systems and charging hardware.
