Overview
Ahmedabad's luxury buyers are famously practical. They want value, space and dependability as much as prestige, and they rarely buy a car purely for show. That makes the GMC Yukon Denali an interesting proposition here. It is the luxury flagship of GMC's full-size Yukon range, built on the same body-on-frame chassis as the Cadillac Escalade and Chevrolet Tahoe, and its biggest selling point is not a badge but genuine, usable space for seven or eight people, wrapped in a comfortable, well-equipped cabin.
The current generation launched for the 2021 model year with independent rear suspension and a longer wheelbase, which improved the ride and made the third row properly comfortable for adults. GMC refreshed it for 2025 with a redesigned front, a 16.8-inch portrait touchscreen with Google built-in, an 11-inch driver display and a 15-inch head-up display. The engine we focus on here is the 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 420 hp and 624 Nm through a 10-speed automatic.
GMC does not sell vehicles officially in India, so a Yukon Denali on SG Highway or in a Thaltej bungalow driveway is a very rare sight. Big Boy Toyz has an imported, unregistered example available, and buyers can contact BBT's showroom at Lal Darwaja, in Ahmedabad's Old City, to arrange a viewing and go through the import and ownership documents.
The city's buyers for a vehicle like this are often business families in textiles, chemicals, diamonds, pharmaceuticals or real estate, many living in joint households in Satellite, Bodakdev or Ambli. Weekends might mean a drive to Udaipur, a trip to the family's native town in Saurashtra or a winter run to the Rann of Kutch. The Yukon's combination of space, cool comfort and a relaxed V8 suits that lifestyle well. The sections below look at how it handles Ahmedabad's heat and roads, and what it costs to own.
