Volvo India has begun its provincial assembling operations with the Volvo XC90 becoming first made in India Volvo automobile at Bengaluru plant. The Swedish car maker's objective is to twofold the market from 5 to 10 by 2020 with the help of local production. Volvo’s manufacturing unit is focusing on the production of models on the basis of Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) modular like S90 & V90 Cross Country in India.
Charles Frump, new appointed managing director of Volvo India stated on the occasion that, “It's a moment of great pride for all of us at Volvo Cars, The roll-out of first locally assembled Volvo Car speaks volumes for the company's
commitment to grow further in India. The last three years have been good for us in India and we noticed a positive and encouraging growth in terms of increased segment share, world-class products and new dealer appointments. With global standards in quality, we are a formidable luxury car company in India and on-track to gain a bigger share of the segment”.
This Indian manufacturing of Volvo cars will promote the model of ‘Make in India’ and will attract other luxury cars manufacturer to assemble their units here. Volvo cars had a remarkable growth in sales of 32 percent in past 2 years, they are now planning to sell out 2000 units in 2017.
