Mercedes-Benz E-Class Edition E Launched in India Today

Today, the German automobile giant, Mercedes-Benz has launched the facelift version of its popular E-class model in India for Rs. 48.6 Lakh. This new edition, which is already available in the Malaysian market, is different from the 2016 model, which the company has unveiled with much fanfare at its company's headquarters Detroit, America.

The new variant that the company has launched today is actually a tweaked version of the My16 variant of the E-class model that was launched in the month of June 2015. This launch is a part of the 12 model/variant launches that the company has planned for India in the year 2016.

This new variant will be put together at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Chakan, which is situated near Pune, Maharashtra. It comes with some superficial changes and is likely to be released in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Sparkling Exteriors

The dimensions of the new facelift remains same as that of the existing model, but the designer has made sufficient tweaks on this variant to distinguish it from the existing model available in the market. The new tweaks include an illuminated three pointed star of Mercedes logo placed at the center of the chrome encrusted engine grille, flared front and rear bumpers that seems to be inspired from the AMG model of Mercedes-Benz.

In addition, it has bigger 18-inch alloy wheels along with a bigger disc for better safety, redesigned side skirts, Edition E logo, chrome plated exhaust pipes and the lettering of Mercedes-Benz embossed on the brake calipers.

Like the exterior, the designers of this new facelift have performed some cosmetic changes in the interior of this car like adding a new steering wheel, which seemed to be inspired by its AMG model and the Edition-E badging on the leather upholstery. All the other features of this facelift remain the same as that of the earlier variant.

This premium sedan will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol trim of this facelift also codenamed E200 is equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol motor that is capable of churning out 184bhp of power and 300Nm of torque.

The second trim of this facelift called E250 has a more powerful 2.1-litre diesel engine that can produce a maximum power of 204bhp of power and a peak level torque of 500Nm.

The third variant E350 EDI comes with a V6 engine that is capable of producing a maximum power and torque of 265hp and 620Nm, respectively. All the engines are based on CDI fuel supply model and are attached with a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
