Hola NIO EP9–The World's Fastest Electric Supercar

Seems like this era belongs to Chinese technology! We know it’s difficult for us to put our trust on a Chinese item but we have to accept the fact that more than 50 per cent of the technology is the gift by our neighboring country. Taking the legacy forward, the Chinese automobile industry is now seeing a new dawn with the evolution of the world’s fastest electric supercar. Yes, you hear it right! The Chinese carmaker, NextEV, yesterday unveiled its ferocious NIO EP9 in London, which claims to be the fastest electric supercar of the world as of now.

Don’t confuse it with the fastest car of the world, Hennessey Venom GT, as it doesn’t fall in the electric vehicle category.

What are the Grounds of Claim?

Remember TMG EV P002 by Toyota, the then fastest electric supercar, which clocked the lap of the Green Hell aka Nordschleife in mere 7 minutes 22.329 seconds (07:22.329m)? Well, the all new NextEV NIO EP9 just break that record by a huge difference of around 17 seconds. It took 7 minutes and 5.120 seconds (07:05.120m) for NIO EP9 to complete the round with a top speed of 313kmph.

If you don’t know, the lap time of the North Loop (Nürburgring Nordschleife) is a widely acclaimed benchmark to judge the swiftness of a vehicle. The beautiful green valley is situated in the Eifel Mountains, Germany. Nature lover use to call it the “Green Hell” based on the fact that around 20 kilometers of the lap area is enveloped by lush green surroundings and the racers take it as one of the most difficult and challenging circuit of the world.

At the event, William Li, the Founder and Chairman of NextEV, said, “Today we launched our electric supercar that broke the record at the Nordschleife. The NIO EP9 was born to push limits and is the first stage of automotive production for NIO. It is a statement of our vision and technical and manufacturing capabilities. It is a best-in-class product that showcases what is possible with electric vehicles. We believe that when the car ownership experience exceeds expectations, electric vehicles will become the natural choice for everyone, leading to a more sustainable tomorrow. And with that, our vision of a blue sky will come true.”

Enjoy the serenity of the nature here and of course don’t forget to praise the fastest electric supercar of the world:

Coming back to the electric supercar, the 1360PS (1-MegaWatt) power producing NIO EP9 can take a leap of 100kmph from a standstill in just 2.7 seconds, similar to what Venom GT took. The time taken to juice up the complete battery is only 45 minutes and what’s more interesting is that on a single charge NIO EP9 can cover a huge distance of 427 kilometers. The company also claims that the vehicle comes with interchangeable battery system.

To top it all, according to the data provided by the company, the power to the vehicle is delivered by 4 electric motors that are further synced with four gearboxes. As far as the figures are concerned, the vehicle at every step will widen your eyes. Where the distance of 0-100kmph is covered in 2.7 seconds, the 0-200kmph sprint took only 7.1 seconds.

Other facts state that at a speed of 240kmph, the NIO EP9 can achieve a downforce of 24,000 Newtons, thanks to the extensive use of customary carbon fibre. To support the latest autonomous driving technology, the superfast electric supercar comes with the essential hardware system, which includes sensor system and e-control structure.

The race towards the greener and cleaner environment seems to have taken a pace as seen by the keen interest automakers are showing towards the electric vehicle category.
