The wait is over! The highly anticipated flagship model of the Swedish luxury carmaker, Volvo S90, has finally hit the Indian automobile market at a price of Rs. 53.5 lakh (pre-octroi ex-showroom, Mumbai). The sedan went up for pre-booking on October 28, 2016. The deliveries are set to commence from December, 2016. The new kid on the block will compete against the likes of Jaguar XF, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6.
This sedan being the longest in its segment measures 4,963mm in length, 1,879mm in width (2,019mm with door mirrors) along with a height of 1,443mm and 4,963mm of wheelbase. The ground clearance stands good at 152mm.
It will not be an exaggeration to say that the car looks absolutely stunning on the outside. It features high-class exterior which includes the Thor’s Hammer full LED headlights, the waterfall grille, puddle lights, side profile with chrome headlights, and the rear gets C-shaped tail lamps. The 18-inch alloy wheels and door-mounted wing mirrors add to the look.
The interior of the luxury sedan is simply gorgeous.The extravagant white-themed interior is dressed up with Walnut Wood Decor Inlays. There are almost no buttons present on the infotainment system as a 9-inch touchscreen controls all the features like climate control, navigation, Apple Carplay compatibility and Bowers & Wilkins sound system. The power-operated comfort seats are draped in Fine Nappa leather upholstery and much more.

Transmission is through an 8-speed automatic gearbox that channels the output only to the front wheels. The 400Nm of torque and 190PS of power is offered from a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine.
You get three driving modes with Volvo S90 – ‘Eco’, ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Comfort’ – which adjusts the behavior of the gearbox, rear air-suspension, engine and steering according to the terrain and surrounding.
If this wasn't enough for you to get excited, the automaker also conveyed recently that it will be introducing the XC90 R-Design in December this year. The new look will get a more aggressive grille and a front bumper, intelligent LED headlamps, 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with wide tyres and much more. Also the company is planning to unveil its V90 Cross Country the next year and this will complete the roll-out of its 90 Series in the country.
