Porsche India is back in news again with its high performance edition – Macan Turbo. The much loved SUV has been launched with a performance kit and is priced at Rs. 1.40 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The turbo variant from Porsche will be placed above standard versions in India. Considering the fact that luxury car buyers are more inclined towards a diesel engine than a petrol one, this power-packed SUV is expected to do a limited business in the country.

According to Porsche, the new Macan Turbo is now more powerful and comes with better brakes and sportier chassis than its standard version. The house of luxury draws power from a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that churns a peak power of 440PS and a highest torque of 600Nm that rotates at 1,500rpm to 4,500rpm. This has improved the overall performance of the vehicle in terms of speed and acceleration. The power has been enhanced by 40PS and torque by 50Nm when compared to the standard Macan Turbo.

That said, the power-packed SUV can now achieve the target of 0-100Kmph in mere 4.4 seconds, which earlier was 4.8 seconds and the top speed has been boosted up to 272Kmph from 266Kmph.

To improve the performance of the Macan, Porsche has reinforced a completely new braking system that includes larger disc brakes of 390mm that are 30mm bigger than the one used in the standard Macan. These disc brakes also feature grooves for air cooling along with red-painted six-piston calipers placed on the disc.

The air-suspension comes with height adjustment and self-leveling features that can adjust the height of the sub by 10mm and to support sporty driving the vehicle can further be lowered down by 15mm in height because of the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management).

Coming to the Performance Package that has thoroughly changed the robust SUV, it includes Porsche's Sports Chrono Package that adds more meaning to the sporty characteristics of Macan Turbo. A switch to Sports Plus mode will automatically enhances the suspension, engine and chassis of the vehicle to give out more dexterity. The company has also improved the 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox to make up the performance need.

Apart from making the changes under the hood, the Performance Package of Porsche Macan Turbo also comes with the options to tweak the looks and style of Porsche Macan. The exterior package comes with 21-inch alloy wheels of Porsche 911 Turbo, PDLS (Porsche Dynamic Light System) Plus, few blacked out panels and LED headlamps. The PDLS Plus system comes with a couple of functions where the dynamic main beam gets activated and adjust the intensity of light as soon the car hits a speed of 65kmph or above along with detecting the other vehicles in front and the oncoming traffic. At the same time, the Intersection Assistant works in the manner to provide a clear visibility of the surrounding of the car by turning on the right and left corner lights.

From the inside, the luxury is more smartly defined through black leather upholstery with carbon bits and Alcantara elements. All this adds to the sporty image of the SUV.

It will compete against the likes of Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the recently launched Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.
