Mercedes-Benz GLE400 4MATIC Petrol SUV Now Available in India for Rs. 74.90 Lakh

Keeping up its promise to bring the petrol versions across its lineup to the Indian soil, the German carmaker, Mercedes-Benz, has finally made the start with GLE400 4MATIC SUV that is launched in the Indian market at a whopping amount of Rs. 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) on 25th of August, 2016. The same model is also available in the form of GLE250d and GLE350d that are blessed with four and six cylinder diesel powertrains, respectively.

The company has brought its first GLE petrol version through CBU route in India and this can be the reason why the GLE400 4MATIC is costlier than its diesel counterparts. The company has earlier announced about its plan to launch 12 models in India and GLE400 is the seventh one. The company is also planning to complete its portfolio in India by the end of September this year.

At the launch, the Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Roland Folger, said,"Mercedes-Benz has the most comprehensive luxury SUV portfolio in the country. With the launch of the GLE400 4MATIC, our discerning customers will now have the option of choosing between the petrol and the diesel version of our highest selling SUV."He further stated,"For the first time, we are introducing the GLE with a petrol mill and this underscores our strategy of offering the right product for our growing customer base. This is the fourth SUV we have introduced this year."

The petrol Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV will be sold in a single petrol version and is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that is tamed to churn out an immense power of 328.5bhp @5250-6000rpm along with a peak torque of 480Nm @1600-4000rpm. The engine is mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus tranny where all the 4 wheels received power through the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The SUV is capable of hitting a top speed of 247km/h.

As far as the features of the car are concerned, the GLE400 is loaded with many advanced technologies, which include full sunroof, Active Parking Assist with 360-degree camera, LED headlamps with intelligent light system, mirror package with brand logo projection and LED tail lights among others. Once inside the cabin, you will feel the luxury and richness the car is designed with. The best-in-leather upholstery, the huge infotainment system with 8-inch screen, Apple CarPlay, 830 watt Harman Kardon surround sound system and COMAND online are few of the basic goodies you will get in the luxury SUV.

Mercedes-Benz cars are always appreciated for the safety they provide and GLE400 ain't no exception with Crosswind Assist, Active Parking Assist and Brake Assist, six airbags, active and passive safety systems and Attention Assist among others.

In the early 2016, the company introduced the GLE line in India as the facelifted version of the M-class (now called GLE) in the diesel trim only. Being one of the best selling SUV of Mercedes-Benz in India, the GLE will be the first SUV to be available in both the engine trims. The beast is all set ready to give neck in neck competition to Audi Q5 and BMW X5 among others. However, joining the race soon will be the Jaguar F-Pace that is expected to set it feet on the Indian soil in the early 2017.

In the past two years, the affinity towards SUVs has taken a considerable height in India and this is one of the major reasons why this German car manufacturer is so hurrying up in completing its lineup in India. Also the battle going on over the ban on diesel vehicles in Delhi and NCR has further pushed the luxury carmaker to come up with petrol trims in order to capture the market once again.

Currently the GLE lineup of Mercedes-Benz in India includes GLE250d, GLE350d, GLE400 and the luxurious beast GLE450 AMG coupe.
