Audi Launches A3 Facelift in Europe; India Launch Next Year

The little thing is not little anymore! Yes, we are talking about the most prevailing and expanding family of Audi – the A3 lineup. The miniature sedan has just received a nip and tuck to get that fresh look back again in the European markets. The hatchback, the sedan and the sizzling S3 range in the A3 lineup have received the update in the front fascia of the car, including a changed grille (probably adopted from the A4) and restructured headlights. The refurbished A3 range will go on sale in Europe from the next month, whereas in India the facelifted sedan range of A3 is expected to hit the ground early next year.

The company has also worked on the taillights and rear diffuser of the A3 facelift to give it the new and fresh appearance. The color palette too has been extended to 5 new more additions, thus bringing the total number of choices to 12 along with the availability of the optional Matrix LED headlights.

From the inside, though the German automaker has carried over the old legacy of the original A3, the MMI infotainment system with easy navigation options and 3-spoke steering wheel have been updated. The visible prominent change however is the extra and optional 12.3-inch display apart from the 7-inch screen.

Under the hood, Audi has provided variety of options in engines for the refurbished A3 lineup. The petrol range will have

  • A 1.0L TFSI 3-cylinder powermill churning out a maximum power of 115bhp
  • A 1.4L TFSI producing peak power of 150bhp, and
  • A new 2.0L TFSI engine with 190bhp of highest power

On the other hand, the diesel variants will come with –

  • A1.6L TDI powertrain delivering max power of 110bhp, and
  • A 2.0L TDI engine producing two power outputs of 150bho and 184bhp

The new features introduced in the facelifted models of A3 lineup were first seen on the recently introduced Audi Q7 and 2017 A4 series. The A3 facelift range will also have Adaptive Cruise Control coupled with Traffic Jam assist and Active Lane Assist followed by Emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Audi A3 is well popular among the masses for its three hallmark design characteristics – Flat, Wide and Compact. The fine quality interior makes your driving experience smooth and comfortable, be it the electrically extended color display with the MMI interface or the luxurious and rich leather seating.

When available, Audi A3 will continue to compete against the likes of Mercedes-Benz CLA, Skoda Superb and BMW 3 series.
