The back-to-the-basics model of the American carmaker, Wrangler Unlimited, carries the legacy of the original off-roader Jeep in terms of looks. It comes with the iconic 7-slat grille, small and square tail lamps and circular headlamps are some of the basic design features that have remained the same for years now. Apart from this, the new Wrangler Unlimited has gone through a complete overhaul and this will get cleared once you step inside this beast. The 21st century air conditioning system, 6.5-inch U-connect infotainment system and leather upholstery are the areas that add modern touch to this hardcore off-road machine.

This off-roader is powered by a 2.8-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine that is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and send power to all the wheels through its standard 4-wheel drive system. The powertrain is tamed to churn out a maximum power of 200PS along with a peak torque of 460Nm. The oil burner can give a mileage of 12.1Kmpl.

At the launch, Kevin Flynn, the President and Managing Director of FCA India, said, “Jeep pioneered the SUV segment and the concept of off-roading. Now we are providing our Indian customers with access to what Jeep has to offer by launching the Jeep Wrangler, the most capable production 4x4 vehicles in the world and the luxurious Jeep Grand Cherokee, the most awarded SUV of all time.” He further added, “We have invested USD 280 million in our facility at Ranjangaon to mobilize our localization strategy. We are on track with our plans to manufacture and roll out an all-new, premium Jeep SUV from our plant in 2017.”

The Limited version of Grand Cherokee runs on a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel powermill that delivers a power of 243PS alongside a torque of 570Nm and 12.8Kmpl of mileage capacity. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
