Things You Didn’t Know About Lamborghini

17th November 2016

Remember when you were little and had posters of supercars on the walls of your bedroom? We all did that. But we never really bothered to find out the stories behind our favorite supercars, did we? Well, that’s what we are here for.

Lamborghini has always been a brand that has been loved by most. It is the name that will often come to mind when we talk about the world of supercars. Let’s dig in find out things that you never really know about Lamborghini:

The first Lamborghini was a Tractor

If you are really into cars, you might be aware of the fact that the first Lamborghini was not a supercar, rather Lamborghini was involved in making tractors. As soon as World War II ended, Ferruccio Ferrari started manufacturing tractors from spare parts. It was only later that they entered the field of luxury cars. One thing that you might not know is that you can still buy a Lamborghini Tractor even today. They cost somewhere around $30,000 to $300,000.

Ferruccio Lamborghini – Real-life Tony Stark

During World War II, Ferruccio Lamborghini was stationed at Rhodes Island as the vehicle supervisor of Italian Royal Air Force. The job was tough as he had to find spare parts on an isolated island. Doesn't it remind you of how Tony Stark built that nuclear reactor in the cave?

They’ve got Ferrari to Thank

Ferruccio was the owner of a Ferrari 250 GT. Not happy with its services he went to Enzo Ferrari for a part replacement. Enzo Ferrari did not take this request very positively and called him a “silly truck driver”. Ferruccio left in anger and four months later, Lamborghini’s first supercar 350 GTV was out. True Story!

The first Lambo did not have an engine

When the first Lamborghini was unveiled, it was engineless. That’s right. When 350 GTV was launched at Turin Auto Show it was without the engine as it was not finished yet. So, they just put in bricks and kept the hood shut.

The Astrological Angle

Have you ever wondered why Lamborghini has used a bull for its logo? Ferruccio Lamborghini was born under the Taurus sign and that is where the bull comes from. That also explains the names of Lamborghini models that are named after bulls- Miura, Gallardo, Diablo, Murcielago. Makes sense, doesn't it?

As the famous saying goes – "You buy a Ferrari when you want to be somebody. You buy a Lamborghini when you ARE somebody."

Having said that, it’s time to embellish your dreams! And those who already have one, kudos it’s time to take a ride!
