The Christmas celebrations have started ahead of the day and all thanks to the luxury carmakers. Where the month of December is considered to be slow in terms of new car launches, this year’s December seems to have born with some luck. It’s been the third day in row since we have been witnessing new products from the luxury carmakers. Right after Mercedes-AMG C43 and Mini Clubman made their way to the Indian automobile market, the Swedish carmaker, Volvo, launched the facelift of V40 & V40 Cross Country today.

According to the company officials the V40 Cross Country is the most affordable hatchback in the country under Volvo family. Don’t believe us? Check the prices below:

It is better if you call the update a ‘facelift’. Thor’s hammer all-LED headlights – the marquee’s signature – have now been incorporated in the updated version along with the new waterfall grille that houses the famous “Iron Mark” Volvo badge. Other features remain the same with the 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels and taillights with LED waterfall appearance. Coming to the V40 Cross Country, the updates are the same over the usual design, which include raised suspension and all-round cladding in matte black color.

Inside the cabin, the changes are almost negligible. Additions include automatic climate control, digital instrument cluster, a massive panoramic sunroof and leather upholstery. The company is now providing five leather trims options with a dual-tone treatment in V40 Cross Country and 3 in V40.

Under the hood too the V40 twins remain mechanically same. Where the V40 gets the same 2.0-litre diesel burner generating a power of 150PS and a torque of 320Nm, V40 Cross Country, on the other hand, comes with the original T4 petrol motor that churns out 190PS of power and 300Nm of torque. Both the engines throw power to the wheels via 6-speed automatic gearbox by Volvo.

The company announced the cars at its new 3S showroom in Kochi, Kerala. Excited about the launch, the MD of Volvo India, Tom Von Bonsdorff, said, “The Launch of V40 & V40 Cross Country today along with the new 3S facility in the heart of Kochi emphasizes our commitment to garner a 10% segment share in the medium term. The car was well received when we launched the Cross Country in mid-2013 and the V40 in June 2015. With a refreshed look and even more features this version will find traction among young buyers across India. We are now geared up for leveraging the potential of the Kerala market with our new partner and 3S facility”
