Priced at Rs. 74.35 Lacs, The New Mercedes-AMG C43 is Finally Here

If demonetization has been troubling you, don’t worry, we too don’t have any solution! But the good news is that the German luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz, fulfilled its promise to launch 12 of its vehicles (or 13th if you consider the CLA facelift as a part of the portfolio) as a part of its scheduled portfolio for the country. The luxurious sedan is priced handsomely at Rs. 74.35 Lacs only (ex-showroom, Delhi) and bridges the gap between Mercedes-Benz C200 and AMG C63.

Last month the company announced its C-Class and S-Class cabriolets that made the carmaker the seller with largest number of convertibles in the country. Pushing its performance oriented models portfolio, the company has blessed the sportscar with AMG character traits to tap a broader target group.

Sharing his thoughts at the launch, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India, Michael Jopp, said, “The introduction of the AMG C43 follows our successful product strategy, which emphasises on gradually building up the 'AMG 43' portfolio in India.”   He further added, “The Mercedes-AMG C43 is the 6th car launched in India this year without a predecessor. This further underscores our strategy of continuously innovating and indulging our patrons with world-class products and services.”

To power this beast, the German marquee has provided a bi-turbo 3.0-litre V6 motor synced with a 9G-TRONIC tranny that churns out a whopping number of 357bhp and 520Nm for power and torque, respectively. The vehicle can make a sprint from 0-100kmph in mere 4.7 seconds.

As a gap-bridger, the AMG C43 doesn’t inherit the traits of the C200 and C63 and offers an all-wheeldrive to its owners. This step is taken to make it a stringent rival to Audi S4. Another interesting feature is the AMG ride control that is basically a sports suspension system that accommodates a 3 stage variable damper and springs developed by AMG. A performance exhaust with a coarse exhaust note also comes as a standard part of AMG C43. This is the similar feature available in SLC43 and GLE450.

Coming to the interior, the Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 holds a sportier appearance from inside, credit goes to the aluminium inflection on the dashboard and door panels with red inflection. You can also see the typical AMG touch on the instrument cluster having “chequered flag” pattern on it.

Talking about the outer appearance of the royal beast, the AMG C43 is provided with larger AMG-spec wheels which give the vehicle a more aggressive stance. Adding more to the look are the front bumpers with larger air intakes and rear bumpers with inbuilt diffuser and quad exhaust system. The bootlid of the car too gets a lip spoiler that is quite subtle.

In terms of competition, as of now the Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 stands alone in the line because Audi India has stopped the production of S4. However, it is likely to get a tough competition from Audi S5 Sportback and Volvo S60 Polestar that is expected to arrive soon.
