Ford Mustang Coming to India Ahead of Auto Expo 2016

"One of the best jobs I did with a dedicated team is the Mustang," Joel Piaskowski, Ford.

Indeed Mustang is the best thing happened to Ford and the year 2016 is going to be a lucky year for the Indians. Now hold your bated breath and start the countdown as the never ending wait seems to get over on the 28th of January 2016. We are talking about the none other than the sixth generation of the popular Ford Mustang that is all set to land on the Indian soil ahead of the Auto Expo 2016. Revealed back at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, the muscle car will make its way to the Indian market through CBU route (Completely Built Unit). Though there is no official word on the launch price of this beauty, the ex-showroom price of this beauty is expected to be between Rs. 55 lakh to Rs. 60 lakh.

The reason behind such a delayed launch of Ford Mustang in India is the availability of the left-hand-drive model only in the market, if we consider its previous generations. However, with the new gen the company decided to explore new markets, including India, by introducing the right-hand-drive variant for the first time. As of now, Ford will introduce Mustang in its India's portfolio as a Halo product because the company is not expecting much numbers initially. The pony car is expected to hit the Indian market in 3 engine options of:

- 2.3-liter EcoBoost low capacity engine delivering maximum power of 305bhp and peak torque of 530Nm.
- 3.7-liter V6 powertrain shooting the highest power of 300bhp and peak torque of 366Nm.
- 5-liter V8 powerhouse with 420bhp and 530Nm of peak power and torque, respectively.

All these horses are based on new technology and are capable enough to provide GREAT FUEL EFFICIENCY. The engine will further have choice in the form of 6-speed automatic or manual tranny.

Mustang hails from the pony car family of Ford and with long hoods and short rear decks it shares sports car like coupes and will be the first member of the family that will be devoid of the company logo. However, a dedicated logo of horse will be a part of the car, which symbolizes quick, sleek, compact and agile appearance. The first generation of Ford Mustang was unveiled in the year 1964 and since then the vehicle has underwent several changes. The current generation will be blessed with the all new IRS system (Independent Rear Suspension) and a completely new and mature design.

Other features provided in the car include:

- Microsoft SYNC and MyKey
- SYNC AppLink that lets the driver choose his/her favorite form of entertainment by controlling his/her smartphone apps
- Push-button Start
- Intelligent Access

OPTIONAL APPS

- MyColor Gauges
- Shaker Pro Audio System
- Track Apps

Now only the time will tell how well this compact muscle car will perform on the Indian soil and how tough the competitor it will be for its contemporaries.
